The Citibank DIVIDEND Card Gives You The Best Cash Back in Town

Citi dividend bonus categories

On 28 September 2015, Citibank re-launched the Citibank DIVIDEND Card – it now comes with even greater savings for all your daily spend, from petrol to groceries, and even our favourite activity – dining. Now, you have more reasons to eat out at your favourite restaurants or check out the latest cafes, and you know which card to use for all your dining bills!

When you eat out at your favourite cafe, or any of the latest swanky F&B joint, you get to enjoy 8% cash back on dining any day of the week, globally! You guys, this is a great deal, because you are actually saving while spending (on necessities!) and you’re rewarded every time you dine out whether it’s breakfast, brunch, lunch, high tea, dinner or supper.

If that alone is not enough for you to use or sign up for the card, think of enjoying even more savings on petrol and groceries with the Citibank DIVIDEND Card. It is a versatile credit card for everyday use.

WHAT YOU CAN ENJOY

Perks of signing up for the DIVIDEND Card is aplenty. Whether you pump your petrol at Esso or Shell, you can enjoy great savings. At Esso, expect savings of up to 20.88%; and at Shell, it’s 20.8%. Significant savings there, yes?

Fret not if you prefer other petrol stations, because you are still entitled to the 8% cash back on petrol which applies worldwide (this is over and above the discounts you get at your favourite petrol station).

For other daily necessities from your grocery shopping, you are also entitled to the fabulous 8% cash back at any supermarket and grocery stores worldwide. Yes, that’s right. Whether it’s Cold Storage, FairPrice, Giant, Marketplace or Sheng Siong in Singapore, or Red Mart online, or even an overseas supermarket, you enjoy this awesome deal all the same.

NEWER AND BETTER

The Citibank DIVIDEND Card has new perks added on to the list, as well as improved entitlements, and we love them all. The previous Citibank DIVIDEND Card cash back percentages for petrol stations, dining and groceries were up to 5%; definitely much lower than the current increased offering of 8%. You might think it is just 3%, but if you work your sums, you would know that these rebates from everyday spend will accumulate to quite an amount.

Also, you get a 0.25% cash back for any other purchases you make with this card with no minimum transaction amount! Your cash back will never expire and you can earn cash back any time, any day, globally.

Here’s how the card has improved:

HOW TO GET 8% CASH BACK – THE BEST CASH BACK IN TOWN

To enjoy the perks of being a cardholder of the Citibank DIVIDEND Card, all you have to “commit” is to spend a minimum amount of S$888 per month. And it isn’t hard, because you can use the card for just about anything; it rewards you for all your daily spend – petrol, groceries and dining, with the biggest savings. Despite the cap of $25 cash back per category (7.75% bonus cash back), you can still chalk up a total of $75 worth of cash back (across 3 categories), plus there is no limit on the 0.25% basic cash back for all your purchases on the card.

Here’s a snapshot on how much you can save:

I'm thinking that means we get 10% on gas stations with Chase Freedom! Citi dividend bonus categories

Citi Forward. Even though it appears to be discontinued, I converted an old Thankyou Preferred Card to a Forward 2 mos ago and still get 5x pts.

Dern. I just downgraded from Preferred two weeks ago, they wouldn't let me goto a Forward.

I prefer the Cash+. I choose restaurants every quarter but to me its worth it.

I appreciate when they do drugstores in Q1 so I can knock out all my spending early on.

Shandril said: Those 5% rotating categories are next to useless now. They removed the more useful categories gradually. And there are other 5% CashBack cards for the more interesting categories that work all year round without as low limits. So not really compelling enough to use the Discover or Chase Freedom cards.

Thanks. signed up

True, and I have that thread bookmarked, but I actually like having separate threads for each calendar year. I no longer care what the Cash Back categories were in 2012, for example, and I'll stop caring about 2013 in about 16 days.

Dividend also makes you build up to $50 before pay-out, vs $20 for Freedom or DiscoMore

NEDeals said: I don't have a Discover More card (the old card) anymore, but my It card allows you to move CashBack to Amazon in any amount. Useful for (nearly) liquidating small amounts.

I was referring to small amounts. Krazen1211 said that you can get a GameStop GC, but that requires using cash-back in $45 increments.

*I left the categories on the grid for those currently in rotation. Readers requested that I leave them on as a backup for which card to use once they’ve exhausted their rotating rewards.

Here’s my checklist for rotating cash back programs:

  1. Sign up for all of the new quarterly cash back programs, even if you don’t know if you’ll use that card. To sign up, just log in to your account online and select the 3rd quarter 2017 5% cash back information. In order to earn the 5%, you have to enroll in each program quarterly.
  2. Write which categories to use each card for using a marker on the front of the card. It works really well to keep the cards straight!
  3. To keep the list of cards straight, I also began printing out a quick cheat sheet to slip in each of our wallets.

All of the links for current sign up bonuses are now listed in our credit card directory.

Are you using different cards for any of these categories?

Comments to New 3rd Quarter 2017 5% Rotating Cash Rewards Credit Cards

Thanks for the reminder. Registered my Chase card for groceries and set reminder to switch my gas purchases (speed pass) to switch back to AMEX Costco card from the Chase card at start of Oct.

As for dining, shame not many takes Discover. Will have to continue to use AMEX Costco card for 3%.

Citi dividend bonus categories

Schwab killed their credit card programs effective Oct. 1st, 2010.

Citi dividend bonus categories

Right they did end the sponsorship, thanks for the reminder. Talk about a bummer.

However, FIA is still running the 2% cash back… the important part! So I’ll still keep using it until that part goes away.

Have you found out what the replacement card will be named?

Citi dividend bonus categories

I have 2 Citi Dividend cards (1 MC and 1 AMEX) and have been with them since 2004. I purchased just under $5000 in new kitchen appliances when we moved into our new home in May 2011. I purchased the appliances online via the GE store and Citi refused to give me the extra 4% cashback on the purchases because the way the transaction was sent to them from the GE site; in a way that it did not fall under any of the home improvement categories. I called and emailed several times, even explaining that I would submit my receipts. Even though they ‘escalated’ the request, they did nothing stating they “are limited in our ability to assist with your request.” I bought appliances and that is clearly in the home improvement categories description of the Q2 2011 promotional incentive. What a joke. I am not using my Citi cards ever again…

Citi dividend bonus categories

Note, for AMEX Costco Card, in the latest June statement, they announced they will be lowering the rebate for dining from 3% to 2%

Citi dividend bonus categories

Oh no, Wayne! I haven’t gotten my statement yet, so I didn’t know they were changing it. That’s a bummer they’re lowering it, since it really was the best dining rebate around.

Citi dividend bonus categories

This is at bottom of the statement,

The TrueEarnings Program

With billing periods starting in August 2011, we are reducing the reward percentage earned for eligible purchases at restaurants from 3% to 2%. Accordingly, effective with your billing period starting in August 2011, in the Supplement to the Cardmember Agreement describing How Your Reward Program Works, “3% for eligible purchases at restaurants” is deleted and replaced with “2% for eligible purchases at restaurants”. However, if your

account was opened between August 1, 2010 and July 31, 2011, you will continue to earn 3% on eligible purchases at restaurants until the start of your 13th billing period. You will then earn 2% on eligible purchases at

restaurants as described in the Agreement.

Thnaks for the roundup! I’ve used the strategy of rotating credit cards myself to earn greater cash back.

Thanks for the reminder!

Citi dividend bonus categories

thank you. i love getting cash back on my purchases. the only thing i love more is getting a discount beforehand (don’t have to worry after that). chase is looking good to me now.

Citi dividend bonus categories

Hi again. Maybe you can help?? I tried to purchase Gift cards in my 4 grocery stores in my area (shop rite-A and P-Hannaford and Stop and Shop)with my amex preferred. These are all full line huge stores. I did find Subway and Bed Bath and Beyond, But where do you find cards from Walmart Kmart and CVS in grocery stores?(for the 6%) They all have the same ones. Except that this quarter you can get the 5% on drugstores from Chase. But are drugstore and walmart cards sold only in their own stores? Thanks

Citi dividend bonus categories

Pretty weak categories this month, hopefully one of them decides to make some changes!

Citi dividend bonus categories

I don’t see the Sallie Mae card from Barclay on the list of no sign-up needed cards. It has 5% gas, 5% groceries, and 5% bookstore (Amazon) year-round (with monthly caps).

We tend to rack up more cash back on that card than any other single card, and there are no categories to juggle or sign-ups to remember. Ever so happy with it.

Citi dividend bonus categories

Yes, Krial, The sallie Mae card is great, but it’s extremely easy to hit their monthly max of $250 each for Groceries and Gas. Books….well if youre in Med School or Law School you might spend $500 a month on books, but pity that poor student!

Citi dividend bonus categories

Lots of opportunity to get cash back … thanks for the extensive roundup!

Citi dividend bonus categories

Some of the Navy Federal Credit Union cards are 3% back on warehouse clubs through 12/31/17.

Citi dividend bonus categories

Thanks for the heads up Mary!

Enjoyed your article and the level of detail you went into for different cards. I’m slightly saddened that the Freedom will no longer be grocery stores and will now be restaurants. I never go to movie theaters and rarely to restaurants.
